Frequently asked questions (Q&A) about skydiving in Barcelona
At Saltamos, we know the idea of skydiving brings a wave of emotions and questions—and we love that! Our goal is to have you arrive on ump day feeling confident and incredibly excited.
Category 1.1: Inspiration – The Ultimate Adventure
Q: I’m looking for a great adventure in Barcelona—why should I choose
skydiving?
A: If you’re after an adventure that truly marks a “before and after” moment in your life, skydiving is the answer. It’s not just an adrenaline rush—it’s a lifechanging experience. Picture breathtaking views of Catalonia, Montserrat, and the Mediterranean Sea from 4,000 meters above. It’s the perfect combination of thrill, personal growth, and unforgettable scenery—making it the ultimate adventure near Barcelona.
Category 1.2: Gifts – The Ultimate Surprise
Q: Why is a skydive the perfect and original gift?
A: Because you’re not giving an object—you’re giving a story to tell for life. It’s ideal for birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, or bachelor/bachelorette parties.
It’s perfect for that person who “already has everything.” A tandem jump with Saltamos is pure excitement, a sense of achievement, and an unforgettable memory of absolute freedom. It’s hands-down one of the most original and exciting gifts you can give in Barcelona.
Q: What does it feel like to skydive for the first time?
A: It’s a mix of indescribable sensations, but we’ll try: nerves and excitement during the plane ride, one intense second when you jump, followed by up to 60 seconds of pure, unimaginable freedom during freefall. It doesn’t feel like falling —it feels like floating on air at 200 km/h. Then the parachute opens, everything becomes peaceful, and all you hear are your joyful screams and feel your adrenaline maxed out! You’ll glide gently down, soaking in the views, until a soft landing.
Category 2: The Tandem Skydiving Experience with Saltamos
Q: What exactly is a “tandem jump”?
A: A tandem jump is the easiest and safest way to experience skydiving for the first time. You’ll be securely harnessed to a professional, highly trained instructor who takes care of all the technical steps—freefall, parachute deployment, steering, and landing—so you can focus 100% on enjoying the adventure. You don’t need previous experience to do it
Q: How long does the entire Saltamos experience take?
A: While the jump itself is intense, plan to spend about half a day with us. This includes check-in, a short but thorough ground briefing (around 5 minutes), gearing up, a 15-minute flight to altitude, the jump itself (freefall + parachute ride), and landing. We want you to enjoy it all without rushing. Afterward, celebrate with a cold beer at the bar while you share your experience with friends and family.
Q: From what altitude do you jump and how long is the freefall?
A: At Saltamos, we jump from 4,000 meters. That gives you around 60 seconds of freefall—an entire minute of pure adrenaline and freedom! After that, you’ll enjoy 6 to 7 minutes under the parachute with amazing views of Montserrat.
Category 3: Safety and Requirements – Your Wellbeing is Our
Priority
Q: Is skydiving safe?
A: Absolutely. Safety is our top priority, and modern skydiving is an extremely safe sport. At Saltamos, we use cutting-edge, meticulously maintained equipment. All instructors are certified professionals with thousands (literally thousands) of jumps under their belts. Each setup includes two parachutes (main and reserve), and an Automatic Activation Device (AAD) that will deploy the reserve chute if needed.
Q: I have vertigo—can I still skydive?
A: Yes, absolutely! This is one of the most common concerns. Vertigo is usually felt when you’re near the ground (like on a balcony or cliff). At 4,000 meters, your brain has no distance references, so that sensation disappears. You’ll feel the wind and the freedom—not the height. Many people with vertigo have jumped with us and loved it!
Q: What are the age and weight requirements to jump?
R: Para saltar con nosotros, debes cumplir lo siguiente:
- Minimum age: There’s no official minimum age for tandem jumps. A child can skydive as long as the harness fits. The minimum weight is about 35 kg, and height at least 140 cm. Parental consent is required.
- Maximum weight: 105 kg, including clothes and shoes. If unsure, please
contact us. - Physical condition: You don’t need to be an athlete—just in general good health for light physical activity
Category 4: Preparation, Pricing, and Logistics
Q: How much does it cost to skydive in Barcelona with Saltamos?
A: Prices vary depending on the package you choose, especially if you want to capture the moment with high-quality photos and video. Our base price includes training, all necessary gear, the flight, and your tandem jump with a certified instructor. Q: What should I wear and bring on jump day?
A: Super easy!
- Clothing: Wear comfy, sporty clothes appropriate for the season. Avoid very loose garments.
- Shoes: Wear lace-up sneakers. No sandals, heels, or boots with hook
- Extras: In winter, bring gloves and thermal wear. You just need your ID, excitement, and a big smile. We’ll provide goggles (which fit over prescription glasses or contacts).
Q: Where are you located, and how can I get there from the center of Barcelona?
A: Our skydiving center is at the Barcelona-Bages Airfield—an ideal spot for skydiving with stunning views. It’s about a 50-minute drive from Barcelona. On our “Contact” or “Saltamos Village – How to Get Here” pages, you’ll find a detailed map and GPS coordinates. You can also take the train from Barcelona: the R4 from Plaça Catalunya or the R5 from Plaça Espanya, you’ll arrive in Manresa, and we’ll pick you up.
Category 5: After the Jump and What’s Next
Q: Do you recommend getting the photo and video package?
A: Definitely! Skydiving is such an intense and fast-paced experience that photos and video help you relive every second. It’s the best way to share your amazing achievement with friends and family—and to have a tangible memory of one of the best days of your life. That adrenaline-fueled smile deserves to be captured forever!
Q: I loved the experience—can I learn to jump solo?
A: We’re so glad you asked! Tandem is just the beginning. If you’ve found a new passion, we offer the AFF (Accelerated Free Fall) course—the most modern and safe way to become a solo skydiver and earn your license. Ask your instructor after the jump and we’ll tell you how to get started in this incredible sport! You can see more information in https://saltamos.es/curso-pac
